This Hartford Courant op-ed piece examines story placement issues through the example of Duke University lacrosse players accused of rape. The story was placed in the sports section in some cases but in general news in others. Story placement influences the effect a story has on readers and this author gets at some of the issues facing editors when it comes to placing stories that don’t fit snugly into an allotted section.
