Postmedia Network rolled out online paywalls on all 10 of its dailies Tuesday, following a two-year pilot project.
The metered paywall will allow print subscribers unlimited access to their newspaper’s website. Canadian users without a print subscription will be able to access 10 free articles monthly while international readers can access five free articles.

“Newspapers around the world are realizing you can’t spend millions of dollars on content and give it away for free,” said Postmedia president and CEO Paul Godfrey in a release.

“Introducing a meter across all of our newspaper websites also allows us to gather more insights into our readers and their interests,” he added. “Getting to know our audiences better will help us to evolve our products to reflect what engages our readers and how they consume our content.”
Readers will be introduced to the paywalls with an advertising campaign, including full-page wraps on all Postmedia newspapers and TV spots starting this week, the company announced in a press release.
