Gillian "Gill" Deacon will join CBC Radio One's Here and Now afternoon radio show as its new host on Sept. 2.

"The CBC has played a big part in my career and as host of Here and Now I am looking forward to telling the stories that matter most to Torontonians," Deacon said in a press release.

Deacon was previously the host of CBC TV's Code Green and The Gill Deacon Show. She also worked as a weekly arts correspondent for CBC News Morning and a columnist for Chatelaine, co-hosted of @discovery.ca for five years on Discovery Channel Canada, and is the author of There’s Lead in Your Lipstick: Toxins in Everyday Bodycare and How to Avoid Them. 

"Gill Deacon's intelligence, curiosity, and knowledge of current issues, alongside her love of music, arts, and culture is what we were looking for in our new host," CBC Toronto senior managing director Susan Marjetti added.
