The CBC picked up five Gabriel Awards when the Catholic Academy for Communications Arts announced the recipients recently. The Gabriel Awards honour Canadian and U.S. broadcasters for their work in film, network and cable television and radio.

CBC’s The Current  won two of the awards, one for the documentary Faith Inside the Walls and the other for For God and Country. CBC Radio in Edmonton and CBC TV’s Moving On and Doc Zone were also winners.

As well, Salt + Light Television, a Toronto-based Catholic digital channel was named television station of the year by the Academy.

The 2008 Gabriel Awards will be presented on October 25 in Los Angeles.
