Tonight’s evening news broadcast will be the last from CKX-TV Brandon, as CTV announced it will shut down the station after a buyer backed out of a deal to purchase the it, the Canadian Press reports.

In July, Canadian Private Investment Firm Bluepoint Investment Corp. agreed to purchase CTV Brandon for $1.

In a memo to employees, Ivan Fecan, CEO of CTV Inc. said:

“I have talked with Alan Cruise, the general manager of CKX-TV Brandon, and we agreed it was in the best interest of everyone, including the employees, to get on with life, close immediately and pay out severances.”

In May, an earlier deal with Shaw Communications Inc. to purchase the station for $1 (along with two other stations) also fell through.

The station will shut down after the evening newscast on Friday, Oct. 2.
