The Youth Media Alliance has launched its bi-annual awards, which recognize
excellence in Canadian-made, youth-oriented productions.

To be eligible, productions must have been broadcast or published online between January 1, 2009 and Dec 31, 2010. The deadline for entry is February 21, no later than 5 p.m.

The Youth Media Alliance (formerly the Alliance for Children and Television, the name changed to reflect the influx of new media), “seeks to enrich the lives of Canadian children and teens by helping improve the quality of the content created for them on all screen-based media.” It offers training for producers of youth programming, and conducts research about the impact of screen-based media on young people. It also lobbies the government to improve content available to young Canadians.

The awards gala will be held in Toronto on June 2.
