Kirstine Stewart, CBC’s executive vice president English Services, has left the public broadcasterto become the managing director of Twitter Canada.

Kirstine Stewart, CBC’s executive vice president English Services, has left the public broadcasterto become the managing director of Twitter Canada.

"I've had some of the happiest moments in my life at the CBC, and I've been honoured to represent such an important name to Canadians,” Stewart said in a press release Monday announcing her departure effectively immediately. “I'm proud of what we've done together these past 7 years. I will miss the CBC family dearly, but I know that even when one leaves the CBC, the CBC never really leaves you. It's in my DNA and I'm all the better for it.”

Her Twitter handle changed from @KStewartCBC to @kirstinestewart soon after the official release went out. 

A recruitment process will be launched immediately for her replacement. Neil McEneaney, CBC’s general manager for finance and strategy, will be filling the position on an interim basis.
