Barb Higgins is leaving CTV Calgary after nearly two decades at the
anchor desk. She made the announcement on July 22 with co-anchor Darrel Janz on CTV news at 6. CTV is yet to announce who will replace Higgins.
Broadcaster Magazine reports:
“Higgins and Janz have anchored the News at 6 since March 5, 1989. Their 21 years of work on the anchor desk earned them the title of the longest serving anchor team in Canada. Together, they have delivered nearly five thousand newscasts to Calgary viewers.
“Higgins has won numerous awards during her time at CTV and has written and produced a number of documentaries and features on topics ranging from the situation facing homeless Calgarians to profiling the fight of a former Calgary firefighter to get benefits from the Workers Compensation Board.”
