The lawyer for Elizabeth Bain’s convicted killer, Robert Baltovich, has asked to see the research material for a book that argues his client was wrongly convicted, reports Kirk Makin in the Globe and Mail. James Lockyer requested the notes shortly after the lawyer for the book’s author, Derek Finkle, requested that a similar request from the Crown be quashed. The Crown has subpoenaed Finkle’s notes in preparation for Baltovich’s new trial set to start next September.
