The Ottawa Citizen has
announced it will no longer accept anonymous comments on stories.
The Ottawa Citizen explains in an article:
“Today, we introduce a new reader-comments system that does away with anonymous commenting. We tried that, and as many of you have told us, it really wasn’t working out so well.
“The gains we made in speed and convenience were more than offset by the number of comments that spoiled the discussion for most users.
“What we’re launching today maintains the quick posting of your comments on the site, but adds your name (or nickname, if you prefer) to your comments.
“And as a registered user, you’ll be able to rate other users’ comments, too.
“It will also allow us to better manage those abusive comments that appeared too frequently up until now.”
