The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) handed out its annual awards in New York recently and the National Post‘s Stewart Bell was among the winners.
Bell, a senior reporter for the Post, was honoured in the “Outstanding piece or series covering the conflict in Sri Lanka” category for his Post series “Inside Sri Lanka.“
In addition, Toronto-based student Ramya Jegatheesan won one of the US$2,000 SAJA Scholarships.
The awards were handed out at a gala celebration at Columbia University in New York on July 11, a part of SAJA’s 15th Anniversary Convention and Career Expo.
Jigar Mehta, SAJA Awards Chair and a video producer at The New York Times, will host a webcast with some of the winners on Tuesday, July 21 from 1-2 pm ET. The winners will discuss their work and share ideas and advice.
