Employees at the Winnipeg Free Press have been on strike for four days. But they are not sitting back just waiting to return to work. Instead, a team of reporters, photographers, editors and web folks have launched a website and continue to report the news in the area.

Freepressonstrike.com is a simple, blog-style website where the striking Free Press staffers are regularly posting news items. In the FAQ section, the team explains the reasoning behind the strike and the site:

“They want to eliminate scores of jobs, weaken the pension plan, cut the pay of night shift workers and make carriers do more for less. We haven’t really even talked about wages yet, which is unfortunate since the company made more than $20 million last year and Free Press pay has been eroded by inflation…We’re committed to keeping you informed, just like we have for generations.”
