Ryerson Review of Journalism reporter Meena Nallainathan investigates the media’s role in the lack of continued coverage of the crisis in Darfur. Nallainathan uncovers numerous reasons why Darfur falls off the western news map, from continued cutbacks, to the high cost of scattering reporters around the globe, to the Sudanese government making it difficult for reporters to get access to Darfur, to the need to cover other calamities. She reports another, more ominous reason: the West had a hand in creating the crisis in the first place.
