Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Halberstam, 73, died yesterday in a car accident in California. The New York Times reports that Halberstam was on his way to interview former football great Y.A. Tittle for a new book. Halberstam was a passenger in a car being driven by a journalism student at the University of California.
