Dana Robbins, the publisher of The Hamilton Spectator, will be leaving the newspaper in the new year to become vice-president/regional publisher of Metroland’s Peel and Southwestern Ontario region.

On Jan. 3, Robbins starts his new job, which will have him overseeing the Mississauga News, Brampton Guardian, Orangeville Banner, Fergus Elora News Express and Wingham Advance Times.

Robbins has been publisher of the Spectator since 2008. He was the newspaper's editor from 2000 to 2006.

Robbins has been publisher of the Spectator since 2008. He was the newspaper's editor from 2000 to 2006.

“It’s been the high point of my career. I doubt anything will surpass the pride I have in being the publisher of The Hamilton Spectator,” said Robbins, in this Spectator story. “It’s difficult for me to overstate the importance that I place on the role that the Spectator plays in Hamilton.”

Robbins will replace Ken Nugent, who is retiring. Metroland West Media Group vice-president and group publisher Neil Oliver will act as the Spectator’s publisher until a replacement is found.
