Want to send in a submission for the Pulitzer Prize? Make sure your digital portfolio is up-to-date, because the Pulitzer Prize Board will no longer be accepting paper entries, which has been their practice for 95 years.
The Prize Board will still accept entries from all journalistic mediums – such as print, interactive graphics, blogs, video, and other multimedia – for the 12 applicable categories. They just must be submitted digitally. Photographs must also be submitted online for the two photo categories.
They have also changed the criteria for the Breaking News award to reflect the realities of today’s reporting and the 24-hour news cycle. It will now be based on reporting that "as quickly as possible, captures events accurately as they occur, and, as time passes, illuminates, provides context, and expands upon the initial coverage," according to the press release.
Details about the new submission process will be announced on Dec. 7.
