RecognitionJack "Sig" Sigvaldason, publisher of Northern News Services, has been named the CJF Lifetime Achievement Award recipient."The fact that he created this feisty, profitable mini newspaper empire in the NWT and Nunavut serving 60,000 people in two languages (English and Inuktitut) over an area of 1.5 million square miles is a massive achievement and the centrepiece of a 50-year career, " says Valerie Pringle, jury member and long-time program host and television journalist at CBC and CTV.

Tamara Baluja named The Canadian Journalism Foundation's Greg Clark Award winner

RecognitionTamara Baluja, national reporter with The Globe and Mail with a special interest in education, is the winner of the CJF Greg Clark Award for early career journalists. Baluja will have the opportunity to spend up to a week visiting a First Nations school in a remote community in British Columbia where graduation rates and performance indicators show positive change is being made.
